Intervention in protest in Gaza: there are arrests

Police intervention in Gaza protest in London

Protesters gathered at Waterloo train station in London at 16:00 local time and began a sit-in protest to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Hundreds of protesters, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as “Free Palestine” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

As the sit-in protest continued, British police surrounded the pro-Palestinian protesters, handing out leaflets stating that it was illegal to protest at the train station, and demanding that the protesters leave the station.

The police intervened in the pro-Palestinian group, which rejected the demand to end the sit-in, and a brawl broke out.

THERE WAS A STAMPEDE

British police arrested 5 people during the action. Some protesters were seen being dragged on the ground while detained.

After the sit-in ended, a stampede broke out as police surrounded the protesters and attempted to remove them from the train station.

It was observed that some protesters fell to the ground and had difficulty breathing in the stampede that occurred during the police intervention.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “Police protect war criminals”, “Shame on you” and “Fascist police” at the police.

After the police removed the protesters from the train station, the protesters waited for a while around the station and left the scene, chanting slogans. (AA)
