Etna volcano was active again

Mount Etna, whose height is around 3,300 meters on the island of Sicily, began to spew ash and lava yesterday afternoon.

In the statement from the Catania branch of the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) it is stated that there was a strong lava flow from the crater in the southeast of Etna and that the ash spewed by the volcano reached a height of approximately 4,500 meters.

It was reported in Italian press news that the lava flow on Etna could be seen for miles and that a code red warning was issued to planes passing through the region due to volcanic activity on the volcano.

Many streets and vehicles were reported to have been covered in ash in settlements around the volcano, such as Zafferana, due to the ash emitted by Etna.

Etna is the highest active volcano in continental Europe. (AA)
