United Nations: Our office in Gaza was bombed, there are dead and wounded

While Israel’s attacks on civilians in Gaza have continued since October 7, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) issued a statement.

In the UNDP statement, “UNDP is deeply saddened by initial reports of the bombing of the United Nations compound in Gaza. The bombing reportedly caused a significant number of deaths and injuries. On 6 November, UNDP reported that several hundred asylum seekers had entered the complex and there are indications that this number has increased significantly since then. The current tragedy of deaths and injuries among civilians caught up in this conflict is unacceptable and must stop. Civilians, civilian infrastructure and the sanctity of United Nations facilities must be respected and protected at all times. “International humanitarian law, including the principles of discrimination, proportionality and precaution, must be respected and observed.”

UNDP ADMINISTRATOR STEINER: THIS IS WRONG ON ALL SCORES

UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, in his statement on his social media account, said: “The UNDP office in Gaza was bombed last night and there were reported deaths and injuries among those taking shelter on our campus. This is wrong in every way. “The sanctity of civilians, civilian infrastructure and UN facilities must be protected at all times,” he said.
