What was feared happened in Gaza: it was plunged into darkness

Power outage at Indonesian hospital in Gaza

Power was completely cut off at the Indonesian hospital in the Jibaliya region of northern Gaza, where thousands of displaced Palestinians, as well as the wounded and sick, were taking refuge. The generators stopped running out of fuel and the hospital was plunged into darkness.

A statement and image on the subject were included on the Telegram account of the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The statement notes that electricity, water and communications to the Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza were completely cut off.

Atif al-Kahlut, director of the Indonesian hospital in the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip, stated in his statement on November 8 that they only had enough fuel for 24 hours and that their activities would stop at the end of this period if there were no new developments. .

“THE LIVES OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE IN DANGER”

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) also made a written statement on the situation of hospitals in Gaza, which were the target of Israeli attacks.

In the statement, which called for respect and protection of medical facilities, patients and health workers in Gaza, “The health system in Gaza, which is overstretched, working with insufficient equipment and becoming increasingly unsafe, has been removed in a manner that endangers the lives of thousands of wounded, sick and displaced people.” It has reached a point of no return.” Statements were included.

The statement stated that ICRC teams distributing critical supplies to medical facilities in Gaza witnessed horrific images due to intensified fighting, and emphasized that this situation severely affected hospitals and ambulances.

It was also claimed that attacks on medical facilities and personnel severely damaged the health system in Gaza, which was left severely weakened after more than a month of intense fighting.

William Schomburg, head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Gaza, whose views were included in the statement, said: “The destruction affecting hospitals in Gaza is becoming unbearable and must be stopped. “The lives of thousands of people are at risk.” he said. (AA)
