Palestinian demonstrations confused the British government

British Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s accusation that police apply “double standards” in tolerating pro-Palestinian protests sparked a crisis in the ruling Conservative Party.

In his article published in the Times newspaper, Braverman described the pro-Palestinian demonstrations as “hate marches” and called for the prevention of the pro-Palestinian march planned for Saturday in the capital, London.

In the statement made by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s office about the controversial article, it was stated that “Braverman’s article was not approved by the Prime Minister.”

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, a leading Conservative Party figure, called the article “unacceptable” and called for the minister’s dismissal. Some MPs and retired police chiefs in England also accused Braverman of pressuring London police.

The British press wrote that pressure on Prime Minister Sunak to dismiss Braverman was increasing.
