Parliament is confused! The opposition launched smoke bombs.

Another extraordinary action took place in Albania. Opposition parliamentarians, who previously blocked parliamentary sessions with different methods, placed chairs in front of the podium and threw smoke bombs to prevent work in today’s session, as before.

The protest was carried out by deputies from opposition parties, especially deputies from the main opposition party, the Democratic Party of Albania (PD).

THE SESSION WAS INTERRUPTED

Today’s session was scheduled to discuss changes to the Albanian Penal Code.

According to parliamentary sources, the amendments aim to increase legal protection for journalists and other media workers. After the tension, the session was interrupted.

In the Albanian Parliament, which already witnessed similar tensions on October 30 and November 2, 8 opposition deputies were suspended from parliamentary work for 10 days.

Opposition MPs had previously prevented the start of sessions by occupying the area allocated for ministers and parliamentary administrators to sit.

MP and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who is not a member of any parliamentary group, claimed that his legislative activities were blocked and demanded that “this right be returned to them.”

ACTIONS WILL CONTINUE

Opposition parliamentarians claim that parliament has “become a personal institution of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla” and affirm that they will continue their actions in parliament to defend their constitutional rights with all their might. (AA)
