Critical US visit: Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Blinken
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Ankara.
Fidan and Blinken appeared before the press before the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then the meeting of the two ministers began.
Before coming to Turkey, US Secretary of State Blinken first visited Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel, as part of his tour of the Middle East. Blinken then met with the foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Amman, Jordan’s capital, about Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
US Secretary of State Blinken later met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank, where he made a “surprise” visit.
After the West Bank, Blinken went to the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCASC) and met with the head of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, Nikos Hristodulidis. From there, he went to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and discussed the events in Gaza with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani.
After Ankara, Blinken is expected to visit Tokyo, Seoul and New Delhi. (AA)
