Scottish First Minister meets family stranded in Gaza

Scottish Regional First Minister Hamza Yusuf in his statement on his social media account.

“HE CRIED WHEN HE COUNTED”

Scottish Regional First Minister Yusuf said: “Of course we are very happy, but my father-in-law said, ‘My heart is divided in two, my heart is in Gaza with my mother, my son and my grandchildren.'” “Then he cried while telling me how difficult it was to say goodbye to them.”

“WE CONTINUE RAISING OUR VOICES FOR PEACE”

“But our thoughts are with those who cannot leave and are trapped in the war zone,” Yusuf said. “We will continue to raise our voices for peace and to stop the killing of innocent men, women and children in Gaza,” he said.

Yusuf stressed that the last few weeks have been “traumatic” for them and stated:

“I can’t express the impact this has had on (his wife) Nadia and my family, especially my mother-in-law. I’m sure they too will share their experiences in time. We request that your privacy be respected during this process. Thank you for all your good wishes.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

In his statement on October 9, Yusuf stated that his wife’s mother and father, who live in Scotland, were in Gaza to visit his father-in-law’s 92-year-old sick mother during the events in Israel and Gaza and were stranded. in the region.

Stating that the Israelis told them to leave the country but that it was not possible for them to leave the country, Yusuf noted that the British Foreign Office could not guarantee safe passage.

In his written statement on November 3, Yusuf announced that his wife’s parents entered Egypt through the Rafah border gate and left Gaza. (AA)
