Gaza death toll rises every minute

The number of people killed in the Gaza Strip, which Israel has been under intense bombardment for 28 days, increased by 166 in the last 24 hours, reaching 9,227.

Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, provided information on the casualties and injuries in the region at the press conference he held at Shifa Hospital. Kudra said 166 more Palestinians were killed in attacks carried out by Israel in the last 24 hours.

The Palestinian official said the number of people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7 has risen to 9,227, including 3,826 children and 2,405 women, and at least 23,516 people were injured.

Stating that there are still people in the rubble of buildings destroyed by the Israeli strikes, Kudra said that 2,100 people, including 1,200 children, were reported missing. Kudra noted that Israel continues its attacks on the health system and announced that so far 136 health workers have died and 25 ambulances are out of service.

Noting that Israel attacked 102 health institutions, Kudra stated that 16 hospitals and 32 health centers were out of service due to lack of fuel or shelling.

Kudra said that due to the closure of roads between the north and south of the Gaza Strip, Israel prevented those injured in northern Gaza from leaving the region for treatment in Egypt.

EMERGENCY CALL FOR HELP

Regarding the lack of fuel in hospitals, Kudra stated that in Sifa Hospital, the largest health center in Gaza, where there are thousands of wounded and civilians, secondary generators are running and only vital departments are functioning. Kudra stated that they will try to provide electricity to the hospital’s support units for 4 hours a day, and emphasized that the lack of electricity in the departments where patients stay makes it difficult to monitor their condition and medical intervention.

Reiterating his call for fuel to be delivered to hospitals, Kudra called on international organizations for “urgent help before a humanitarian disaster occurs.” Kudra recalled that the Turkey-Palestine Friendship Hospital, the only center treating cancer patients in the Gaza Strip, was out of service due to attacks and lack of fuel.

Reiterating his call for help to save approximately 10 thousand cancer patients, Kudra stated that 4 cancer patients lost their lives after the hospital ceased operations.

Kudra pointed out the shortcomings of health services and called for fuel, emergency medical aid and medical equipment to save thousands of patients and injured people. (AA)
