Fight in parliament… Smoke bomb thrown

Fight in parliament… Smoke bomb thrown

In the Albanian Parliament, opposition deputies blocked the parliamentary session in which some legislative amendments were planned to be discussed.

Deputies from opposition parties, especially deputies from the main opposition party, the Democratic Party of Albania (PD), placed chairs in front of the podium and threw smoke bombs to prevent parliamentary debates.

In her opening speech to the session, the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Lindita Nikolla, called the events “a shame for the Albanian Parliament.”

Despite all the tension in parliament, parliamentarians passed some bills and then parliament speaker Nikolla ended the session.

Opposition MPs had previously prevented the start of sessions by occupying the area allocated for ministers and parliamentary administrators to sit. Stating that protests would continue, parliamentarians argued that parliament was not a government institution. (AA)
