‘Bloody hands’ protest against US Secretary of State Blinken
US Secretary of State Blinken was present with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at the Senate Appropriations Committee for the Joe Biden administration’s request for $106 billion in aid .
While he was testifying before the committee, people who attended the session and were against Israel’s attacks on Gaza interrupted Blinken’s speech by chanting different slogans.
The protesters, who stood and chanted slogans such as “Stop supporting genocide”, “Stop the massacre in Gaza”, “Save the children of Gaza” and “Cease fire now”, held anti-war banners in their hands, were removed from the room by the congressional police.
As Blinken continued his speech after the protesters in question were removed, some demonstrators continued their silent protests by raising their red-painted hands, symbolizing “blood-stained hands” in the rows behind Blinken.
Protesters were also seen having writing saying “Freedom for Gaza” on their hands raised in the air.
Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of Defense Austin testified today before the Senate Appropriations Committee about President Joe Biden’s administration’s request for a total of $106 billion in aid from Congress, including several items, 14 .3 billion dollars for Israel and 61.4 billion dollars for Ukraine.
