Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder assessed events in the Middle East at the daily press briefing.

Stating that they know that the groups that carried out the attacks have the support of the Iranian regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ryder said: “We see the possibility of a more serious escalation in the near future by against Iran’s proxy forces and ultimately against U.S. forces and personnel throughout the region originating from Iran.” he said.

The Pentagon spokesperson noted that the United States is willing to respond to the attacks using its right of self-defense to defend its interests and its personnel in the region.

In response to a question about the 3 missiles launched towards Israel by the Houthis in Yemen on October 19, Ryder shared the information that the range of these missiles was around 2 thousand kilometers and assessed that they probably could have reached Israel if would not have been shot down by the USS Carney.
