Joint statement of the Nobel Prize winners… The protection of children is a priority

Thirty Nobel laureates, including Kailash Satyarthi, Steven Chu, Mohammed El Baradei and Jody Williams, prepared a joint statement on the social media platform X on children affected by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The statement read: “Palestinian children are our children. Israeli children are our children. “We call on everyone to remember that children have nothing to do with war and are not responsible for its consequences.”

The statement called for the immediate release of the kidnapped children and said: “Children cannot be deprived of water, food, health services and shelter.”

The statement noted that priority must be given to ensuring the safety of children affected by conflict, regardless of the party.

Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, dubbed the “Aqsa Flood.” As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border.

Armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from here and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.

It was reported that 1,400 Israelis, including 306 soldiers, were killed and 4,834 Israelis were wounded in the attacks carried out from Gaza. The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced that 4,137 people, including 1,524 children, were killed and more than 13,000 injured in Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
It was claimed that 84 Palestinians were killed in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.
