In his publication on his X account on the social network, Petro shared photographs taken with the Israeli ambassador in Bogotá, Gali Dagan, and the Palestinian ambassador in Bogotá, Raoulf Almalk.
Stating that he will open an embassy in Ramallah after his meeting with the ambassadors, Petro said: “I expressed my attitude towards achieving an international peace conference that will pave the way for two independent and free states. I highlighted my solidarity with Israeli and Palestinian children who should live in peace and have these rights. We will send a plane with humanitarian aid to Gaza. “Colombia will open its embassy in Ramallah, Palestine,” she said.
In his statement on his X social media account on October 9, Petro criticized Israel’s response to the Hamas attack.
Sharing on his social media account the photographs of the Palestinian children who lost their lives as a result of the Israeli attacks, Petro said: “The only way for Palestinian children to sleep in peace is for Israeli children to sleep in peace. “The only way for Israeli children to sleep in peace is for Palestinian children to sleep in peace,” she said.

The daughter of the Palestinian ambassador in Bogotá sent a letter of gratitude to Colombian President Gustavo Petro for his “support for Palestine.” Sharing the letter on his X social media account, Petro said: “I received one of the most beautiful letters.”
In the letter, in which a drawing of two children carrying the flags of Colombia and Palestine was drawn, the following expressions were used:
“Good morning, Mr. President. I am Salma, the daughter of the Palestinian ambassador to Colombia, we are very grateful for her support of Palestinian children and her efforts to save the children of Gaza.
