Here is the Al-Ehli Baptist hospital, which was destroyed: hundreds of people died

Photographs taken this morning at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which came to the fore with Israel’s attack on Gaza and where approximately 500 people lost their lives, reveal the human tragedy that took place…

Photos provided by international news agencies became a trend.

While there was a huge reaction from the international community to the attack on the hospital, which has served the region since 1882, the leader of the Anglican Church and spiritual leader of the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said: Very clear messages came from Western countries after the attack, which he described as “a shocking and catastrophic loss of innocent lives.”

While the Israeli government did not claim responsibility for the attack, it blamed other groups.

While Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari claims his country did not carry out the attack, calls for Israel to “end the attack” and “allow the opening of a humanitarian aid corridor” continue to come from the United Nations and other institutions and countries, especially the United States, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

A doctor named Ibrahim Al-Naqa, who works at the hospital, also spoke to the British news agency Reuters. Al-Naqa said: “This hospital created a safe space for women and children fleeing Israeli attacks. Hospital staff were working normally on Tuesday night and we did not receive any notice. “We don’t know what they shot with, but they aimed at the children and cut their bodies into pieces,” he said.

THE OLDEST HOSPITAL IN GAZA

Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital was founded in 1882 through the Church Missionary Society (CMS) of the Anglican Church.

Management of the hospital, which was run by the United States-based Southern Baptist Fellowship from 1954 to 1982, was later transferred to the Anglican Diocese of Palestine.

Al-Ehli Baptist Hospital is known as the oldest hospital in Gaza.

The Anglican Church, through its “American Friends of the Anglican Diocese of Palestine (AFEDJ)”, leads the creation of hospitals and health centers in Palestine, Israel and Lebanon.

According to the Church News Service, the organization, which is one of 22 hospitals operating in northern Gaza, serves 45,000 patients a year with donations.

According to the statement by the Archbishop of Canterbury of the Anglican Church, Justin Welby, the hospital was damaged in the rocket attack launched by Israel on October 14 and 4 health workers at the hospital were injured.

Emphasizing that health institutions in the region could not be safely evacuated after the attack, Welby said: “Hospitals and the wounded in Gaza are in great danger.”

Regarding today’s attack, Welby said: “(Israeli attack on hospital in Gaza) This is a terrible and appalling loss of innocent lives. “The Anglican Church was running the hospital,” he said.

WHO ARE THE BAPTISTS?

The Anglican Church, which currently assumes management of the hospital known as “al-Ehli Baptist Hospital” among Gazans, considers the use of the name “Al-Ehli Baptist” to be incorrect because it is associated with Southern Baptists. Community, former hospital administrators.
claims it is.

The first church of Baptist Christianity, a sect in the United States, was founded in Rhode Island in 1638 by Roger Williams.

The Baptist Church, known for its extensive missionary activities, is claimed to have approximately 51 million members worldwide.

Baptists make up about 16 percent of the American adult population, according to a 2014 study by the Pew Research Center. (AGENCIES)
