Trump’s statements were restricted

Tanya Chutkan, the federal judge hearing the case in the United States, announced that she would prevent Donald Trump and his lawyers from publicly commenting on prosecutors, witnesses and court staff regarding the investigation.

Chutkan assessed that Trump has the right to criticize the Justice Department in general and claim that the case is “politically motivated,” but he cannot conduct a “smear campaign” against prosecutors and judicial staff.

Citing Trump’s description of special counsel Jack Smith as a “thug,” Chutkan said he would impose “necessary sanctions” if the speech ban was violated.

In his statement on his social media platform TruthSocial, Trump reacted to the judge’s order by calling it a “witch hunt” and stated that he would appeal the decision.

Chutkan is known for giving defendants sentences higher than those requested by prosecutors in congressional raid cases.

In August, Trump requested the recusal of the judge in Chutkan’s case, claiming that “it would not be possible for him to have a fair trial.” Chutkan stated that he saw no reason to withdraw from the case and that he would not do so.

CONGRESS RAID CASE

Former President Trump was accused of interfering in the 2020 presidential election in the indictment filed in Washington DC District Court on August 1.

In the indictment prepared within the framework of the investigation into the “attack on Congress on January 6,” four accusations were made against Trump in relation to the attempt to change the results of the 2020 presidential elections in his favor.

The charges included allegations of “conspiracy to deceive the United States,” “conspiracy to obstruct an official investigation,” “attempt to obstruct an official investigation,” and “conspiracy to prevent voters from exercising their constitutional rights.” (AA)
