35,000 Palestinians took refuge in Gaza’s Shifa hospital

The general director of Şifa Hospital, Muhammed Abu Selime, made a statement on the issue on the Facebook page of the Gaza Ministry of Health. Abu Selime claimed that 35,000 Palestinians who escaped Israeli airstrikes left their homes and took refuge in and around Shifa hospital.

Images of Palestinians leaving their homes and trying to take refuge in safe areas being attacked on the roads were also shared on the ministry’s Facebook page. The images also reflect the moments when first aid teams trying to save Palestinians were attacked.

Yesterday, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee asked Palestinians living in the north of the blockaded Gaza Strip to move to the south of the region, and thousands of people began taking refuge in Shifa Hospital.

Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, dubbed the “Aqsa Flood.”
As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border.
Armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from here and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.
It was reported that 1,300 Israelis were killed and 3,436 Israelis were injured in the attacks carried out from Gaza.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 1,900 people, including 614 children and 370 women, lost their lives and 7,696 people were injured in Gaza during Israeli attacks.
It was also claimed that 51 Palestinians had been killed in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank since October 7.
