‘Israel is preparing to enter Gaza by land’
Israeli media reported that Israel’s security forces are preparing to launch a ground operation against the blockaded Gaza Strip.
In a report published on the website of Israeli Television Channel 14, it was stated that Israeli security forces were preparing to enter the Gaza Strip by land, but were awaiting approval at the political level. The report states that “if the ground operation is approved, Israeli forces are ready to remain there (in Gaza) for a few more months” and assesses that “the army’s clear objective at this stage is to disarm the Gaza Strip.”
Official Israeli authorities have not yet made any statement regarding the report published on the Channel 14 television website.
On the other hand, the Israeli Army statement noted that the Air Force dropped 6,000 bombs on points belonging to the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements and carried out large-scale air strikes in the Gaza Strip.
THE GAZA BORDER IS BEING EVACUATED
Israel evacuated 60 percent of the population from the Jewish settlement of Sderot, located a few kilometers from the border with Gaza.
According to Israeli state television KAN, the evacuation of residents of the Sderot settlement to hotels in the center of the country continues. Currently about 13,000 people remain in Sderot, representing 40 percent of the settler population.
Sderot, where dozens of rockets fell from the Gaza Strip, was the scene of intense clashes with the Israeli army following the infiltration operation by elements affiliated with the armed wing of Hamas, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, on October 7 .
The mayor of Sderot, a border town with a population of approximately 31,000, Alon Davidi, in his statement on October 11, called on the Israeli government to evacuate all residents of the town in an organized manner due to the conflicts. (AA)
