27 Americans lost their lives in the crisis between Israel and Hamas

White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby answered questions at the daily press briefing.

Kirby stated that 27 Americans lost their lives in the conflict between Israel and Hamas and 14 of them were missing.

Kirby stated that starting tomorrow special flights will be organized from Israel to European regions for American citizens who want to leave.

On the other hand, Kirby reiterated that there was no plan to send US troops to Israel and emphasized that the Israelis did not have a request in that direction.

HUMANITARIAN AID TO GAZA

Responding to the question about American citizens in Gaza, Kirby said the first and most important thing to do is allow civilians to pass safely. In this context, Kirby stated that they continue to meet with Israel and Egypt to establish a safe transit corridor and assessed that this issue could be placed on the agenda once this is achieved.

“(Open Safe Corridor) This is the right thing to do for humanitarian aid,” Kirby said. “This is also the right thing to do for the innocent victims who are literally being held hostage by Hamas.” he said.

Kirby noted that they continue to actively negotiate with the Israelis about the continuation of the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Asked if Palestinians who will leave Gaza can return, Kirby said: “We know that Gaza is the homeland of these people, and if they want to return to their homeland, they should definitely be allowed to return.” he said.

SOURCE OF FOREIGN CURRENCY OF IRAN

Kirby was asked about the news that the United States and Qatar agreed to refreeze the roughly $6 billion in Iranian foreign currency funds released as part of the prisoner swap between Tehran and Washington.

Kirby claimed the money is still in bank accounts in Qatar and stressed that Iran did not spend a single cent.

Kirby, who did not mention a decision to refreeze Iran’s access to foreign currency, said: “I’m not going to speculate one way or another on future transactions.” “What I can tell you is that this money has not been accessed and we are closely monitoring every penny.” saying. (AA)
