United States: We are negotiating with Israel and Egypt for Gaza
White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby answered questions at the daily press briefing. Kirby claimed that 22 Americans lost their lives in the Israel-Palestine conflict and 17 Americans were missing. Kirby noted the possibility that these numbers could continue to rise.
Kirby said they have not made any operational decisions regarding rescuing the hostages at this time.
Stating that they are actively negotiating with Israel and Egypt to open a safe passage corridor for civilians in Gaza, Kirby said: “Civilians are not responsible for what Hamas does. “They didn’t do anything wrong.” he said.
“We believe that humanitarian aid is important for Palestinians living in Gaza,” Kirby said. She gave the message that they will continue to explore options for Palestinians to access humanitarian aid.
Emphasizing that no civilians should die in conflicts, Kirby commented that, on the other hand, it cannot be promised that there will be no more civilian deaths in an ongoing “war.” “I wish I could promise you it won’t happen that way,” Kirby said. But I can’t,” he said.
Kirby said the United States is providing the most humanitarian aid, especially to the Palestinian people in Gaza, and said: “We want this aid to continue. Water, medical supplies, medicines, all the humanitarian aid that we know is important. Because these people are also victims. “They were not the ones who asked Hamas to do this.” he made the assessment of it.
