Greece alerted to conflict between Israel and Hamas
Alarmed by clashes between Israel and Hamas, Greece’s counterterrorism and improvised explosive devices units have determined special measures to protect Israeli targets in the capital Athens, including the Israeli embassy in Athens. Security measures have also been increased in migrant camps across the country.
Precautions were planned to be taken, such as keeping Palestinian immigrants living in the country under observation, increasing controls at airports when entering from the Middle East and ensuring surveillance of Israeli tourists in the country.
It was decided to tighten security measures in the protests that Palestinians will organize in the country.

Speaking after today’s meeting of the European Union with the Council of Gulf States, Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Ierapetritis stated that the meeting took place under the shadow of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Yerapetritis highlighted that he held individual meetings with representatives of the Gulf countries and also spoke by telephone with the Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Jordan.
Yerapetritis stated that the main objective is to end hostile attitudes and noted that Athens proposed to the country’s representatives with whom it met today a five-point plan to break the vicious cycle of violence and reduce tension.
Yerapetritis explained that the plan aims to “end the hostile attitude towards civilians, immediately release all those who have been taken hostage, open a humanitarian corridor to benefit from critical services such as health, condemn the EU attacks and the Gulf countries and establish an international forum to address the situation. root of the problem.”
DEMONSTRATION OF SUPPORT FOR PALESTINE IN THESSALONIKI
Several leftist and Palestinian groups gathered in Aristotle Square in Thessaloniki, Greece, and gave a message of support for Palestine with flags and banners in their hands.
Activists chanted slogans such as “Down with Israel” and “Long live Palestine” and carried banners reading “US, stop aid to Israel.”
The protest, for which the police took strong security measures, ended in front of the US Consulate General in Thessaloniki.
The protesters dispersed without incident after the action. Similar demonstrations took place in several cities in Greece.
ISRAEL-HAMAS CONFLICT
Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, called the “Aqsa Flood.”
As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border.
