Europe suspends aid to Palestine
Oliver Varhelyi, Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement at the European Commission, said that financial aid to Palestine has been stopped, all projects are being examined and new budget proposals for 2023 have been postponed until further notice.
ALL PROJECTS WERE REVIEWED
Varhelyi made the following statements in her statement on her social media account:
– The extent of terrorism and brutality against Israel and its people is a turning point. The European Commission, the Palestinians’ largest donor, is reviewing its entire development portfolio, worth a total of €691 million. All payments were suspended immediately. All projects were examined.
– All new budget proposals, including 2023, have been postponed until further notice. A comprehensive evaluation of the entire portfolio will be carried out. The fundamentals of peace, tolerance and coexistence must now be addressed. Incitements to glorify hatred, violence and terrorism have poisoned the minds of many people. We need to act and we need it now.
