Critical meeting between Egyptian President Sisi and Mahmoud Abbas
According to the written statement of the Egyptian presidency, Egyptian President Al Sisi had a telephone conversation with Palestinian President Abbas.
During the meeting, which discussed tension in the region, the leaders drew attention to the danger that the current situation, in which there will be no political options, could worsen in a way that threatens the lives of civilians and the security and stability of the region.
Sisi and Abbas expressed their “deep concern” over the continuation of the current tension and the serious deterioration of humanitarian and security conditions.
The leaders also emphasized that ensuring sustainable stability in the region requires reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the question of Palestine on the basis of a two-state solution, in line with the conditions of international legitimacy.
On the other hand, Egyptian President Sisi discussed the tension between Israel and Palestine in separate telephone conversations with the President of the Council of the European Union (EU), Charles Michel, and the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz.
