Both sides of the world were shaken by strong earthquakes

Two consecutive earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and 6.2 occurred in Herat province in western Afghanistan.

In the statement from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), it was reported that two earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and 6.2 occurred in Herat, around 11:00 local time, 8 minutes apart. The statement stated that the epicenter of the 5.5 and 6.2 magnitude earthquakes was 29 and 35 kilometers away from the center of the Zinda Can district of Herat, respectively, and that the tremors occurred at a depth of 11.4 and 10 kilometers underground.

The statement indicated that two aftershocks were recorded after the earthquakes.

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred in the south of the Central American country of Mexico. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was near the Cuauhtémoc region of the state of Oaxaca.

According to early findings, there was no loss of life or property in the 5.9 magnitude earthquake, which occurred at a depth of approximately 108 kilometers. On the other hand, the earthquake was strongly felt in Oaxaca de Juárez, the state capital.

During the earthquake, a group performing in the amphitheater was removed from the stage.

Governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, in his statement on the social media platform

It was reported that the earthquake activated seismic alarms in a part of the capital of Mexico, so some residents of the city took to the streets, but no tremors were felt in most areas. (AA)
