115 decomposing bodies found in funeral home
The remains of 115 decomposing corpses were found in a funeral home in the US state of Colorado during a search carried out after neighbors complained about the bad smell that spread.
In the statement issued by the Fremont County Police Office, it was indicated that an investigation was carried out at the business called “Return to Nature Funeral Home.” As a result of the investigation, it was found that 115 corpses were found in a state of decomposition that had been inadequately preserved.
CALL TO FAMILIES
The county sheriff, Allen Cooper, appealed to the families so that the investigation can move forward and the identity of the decomposed bodies can be determined.
Freemont police reported that the remains of the bodies kept at the funeral home did not pose a health threat.
NO ARREST
No arrests have yet been made in the investigation. “It’s not clear whether a crime was committed,” said Vikki Migoya, an FBI public affairs specialist who assisted in the investigation.
THE FEE IS APPROXIMATELY 2 THOUSAND DOLLARS
According to information on its website, “Back to Nature Funeral Home” assures that the bodies are buried in a “natural” way.
The “green burial” that the company claims to perform is practiced as a way to be buried without the use of embalming chemicals, plastic, metal or other unnatural materials.
It is alleged that the company charged $1,895 for this “natural burial.”
According to Colorado state law, bodies that are not buried within 24 hours must be refrigerated in morgues.
