This is how experts interpreted the downing of the Turkish UAV by the United States: Was a message given?

The Wall Street Journal, one of the most respected newspapers in the US, published a full story on the first-ever US attack on a NATO ally…

The story published in the Wall Street Journal also included the opinions of Middle East experts. Experts who spoke to the newspaper claimed that the United States could have sent a message to Ankara with this attack.

Charles Lister, Director of Syria Counterterrorism Programs at the Washington-based Middle East Institute, said: “It’s not every day that the United States shoots down a UAV from another NATO member. This can only be read as a message from the United States for Ankara to leave the region. But I don’t think this message is perceived that way,” he said.

Lister said: “Turkey sees the PKK as an existential threat and will continue to address this issue.”

“The Turks will not underestimate”

Separately, Andrew Tabler, who was once Syria director at the White House National Security Council and currently works at the Near East Policy Institute, also spoke to the Wall Street Journal.

Tabler said: “It will be a big challenge for the United States to calm its relations with Turkey. The Turks will not take the downing of one of their own unmanned aerial vehicles lightly. The status quo in Syria is getting worse every day. “Third party groups will continue to intervene militarily in this area,” he commented.
