Compensation of 5.5 million euros to those who live around the airport

It was reported that the Dutch government will pay a total of €5.5 million in compensation to 3,000 homes around Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport due to noise pollution.

In the news published by public broadcaster NOS, it is stated that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Affairs responded to questions on the issue that those who would receive compensation were exposed to noise pollution between 2017 and 2019. The news indicates that The government will pay a total of 5.5 million euros in compensation to 3,000 homes around Amsterdam Schiphol airport due to noise pollution.
It was reported that the compensation, which amounts to an average of 1,800 euros per household, will be paid at the end of October or beginning of November.

It was stated in the news that the Environmental and Transport Inspection Authority (ILT) has not carried out inspections even though the sound limit has been exceeded in the vicinity of the airport in recent years, and that the institution will restart inspections from 2024.

A statement made in April by Amsterdam Schiphol Airport authorities stated that night flights and private jet flights would be banned from 2025 due to noise pollution. (AA)
