The Paris Prosecutor General’s Office announced that a money laundering investigation is underway in which the name of Bernard Arnault, president of LVMH, owner of the famous fashion houses Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, is mentioned.
French newspaper Le Monde reported that authorities are examining the real estate transaction with Russian businessman Nikolai Sarkisov, especially in the Courchevel ski resort. Prosecutors told Bloomberg that the investigation into Arnault, who has a net worth of $212 billion, began last year.
According to Le Monde, Sarkisov bought several properties in Courchevel through brokerage companies. However, it was claimed that Arnault was the ultimate buyer of these transactions and paid Sarkisov approximately €20 million to own these assets. Sarkisov is alleged to have made a profit of €2 million from these deals.

Bernard Arnault, who was born on March 5, 1949 in Roubaix, France, is also the son of businessman Jean Leon Arnault.
After studying engineering at Ecole Polytechnique University, one of the most famous universities in the world, Arnault worked at his father’s construction company called Ferret-Savinel.
Arnault later acquired the luxury goods company Financiere Agache and established the famous textile company Boussac Saint-Frères. Arnault, who invested millions of dollars in shares of the MHV company, became the first shareholder of the company and turned LMHV into a world-famous company.
Arnault, who in his company collects many luxury products such as drinks, cosmetics, watches and clothing, as well as fashion, was among the five richest people in the world in 2011.
