Trump to US Chief of Staff Milley: committed a capital crime
Former US President Donald Trump criticized Milley on his social media platform for meeting his Chinese counterpart without his knowledge in the final month of his presidency.
“THE PUNISHMENT WOULD BE DEATH”
Claiming that according to media reports, Milley was “going behind his back” and informing China about the US president’s thoughts, Trump said: “This is such a terrible act that in the past, the punishment would have been death.”
Trump voiced his criticism of Milley, saying, “A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act.”
In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee in September 2021, General Milley noted that he had clearly told Chinese officials that Trump did not plan to attack China in his final weeks as president.
“WE WILL NOT ATTACK YOU”
On China-US relations, Milley said: “My mission at the time was to reduce tensions. My message was consistent: stay calm, stand firm, and de-escalate. “We will not attack you.” She used the following expressions. (AA)
