Incident that scared parents: 50 children disappeared in the same area in September
Approximately 50 children were announced missing in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, in September alone, and the children’s parents contacted the police to report them missing. Authorities announced that the number of children reported missing in the last year exceeded 1,000.
Authorities declared that 1,072 children were registered as missing in 2023. Last year, 15,000 children were reported missing in the same state, and the bodies of only four of them were found.
The Ohio State Attorney’s Office announced that at least 45 children have gone missing in Cleveland since early September. The authorities, who shared the children’s information and published the children’s photographs and places last seen in the database, also warned parents.
“THE NUMBER OF POLICE IS LOW”
While it was claimed that 15-year-old Keshaun Williams went missing after going to a friend’s house in June and no one saw him, some experts also claimed that the number of police in the area was very low and there were infrequent patrols.
While the search for 17-year-old Camryn Nicole Golias, who was last seen in Akron in September, is said to continue, the last missing case on record was 17-year-old Iyahna Graham, who disappeared on September 23 .
THE NUMBER OF LOSSES INCREASED IN 2023
It was also claimed that children aged 12 and 14 were among those missing this month. Police Chief John Majoy said: “For some reason we do not understand, we are receiving many more missing persons cases than usual in 2023.” “We still don’t know if these children are being trafficked or have connections to criminal and drug gangs,” he said.
Majoy said: “I think most of these cases fled their homes and were not kidnapped. “But runaway children are very vulnerable to attacks and bullying,” she said.
Experts who examined the cases in recent years stated that 8,525 children ran away from their homes, 34 were kidnapped by their relatives, and 5 were kidnapped by strangers.
