Visa crisis between Germany and Poland
Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau accused Germany of trying to interfere in his country’s internal affairs.
Minister Rau responded to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on his social media platform
Criticizing Germany in his post, Rau claimed that Scholz’s statement violated the “principle of sovereign equality of states.” “It is clear that the German Chancellor’s authority has no relation to the ongoing process in Poland,” Rau said. “Statements in this regard point to an attempt to intervene in Poland’s internal affairs and in the current election campaign in the country,” he said.
On September 15, accusations of irregularities in the issuance of entry visas were put on the agenda in Poland and Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk was dismissed. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that special inspections and audits will be carried out at all consular representations in the country. (AA)
