US statement on Ukraine: the final stage has been reached
In the United States, it was claimed that President Joe Biden’s administration was preparing to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles of the “ATACMS” type armed with cluster bombs.
It was stated that ongoing negotiations between relevant institutions were coming to an end and it was stated that an official announcement regarding this aid could be made after Biden’s final approval.
It has been claimed that ATACMS missiles, which have a range of around 300 kilometers depending on the version chosen, could allow the Ukrainian military to attack Russian command posts, ammunition depots and logistics routes far behind the front line.
UKRAINE EXPRESSED ITS DEMAND
Ukraine has expressed its request for ATACMS missiles to the United States since the beginning of the war, but the Biden administration did not take kindly to it due to concerns that Kiev could use these missiles against targets on Russian territory.
During his meeting yesterday at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Biden announced that the first US Abrams tanks would be delivered to Ukraine next week as part of new US military aid of $325 million.
Stating that they are focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, Biden also stated that they would provide additional equipment in this context.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reported in his daily press conference that Biden decided not to provide Ukraine with the ATACMS long-range guided missile system, but did not leave this issue off the table for the future. (AA)
