Trust in politicians is at rock bottom in the Netherlands
According to research commissioned by the Ipsos institution for the Netherlands’ public broadcaster NOS, 72 percent of the population revealed that they do not trust the country’s politicians.
47 percent of respondents say the lack of trust is due to the government’s policies in the fields of immigration, asylum, healthcare and housing, as well as the inability of politicians to solve the country’s problems.
The Dutch argue that the number of political parties in the House of Representatives should be reduced by applying an electoral threshold as a solution to political problems.
A FAIR DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH IS DEMANDED
On the other hand, 64 percent of those surveyed want a more equitable distribution of wealth in the country. This group favors subjecting businesses and high-wage earners to more taxes and increasing property taxes.
HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE COUNTRY SCENE
Meanwhile, 72 percent believe their country is heading in a bad direction, while 30 percent fear their economic situation will worsen in 2024.
GENERAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER
General elections will be held on November 22 in the Netherlands, where the coalition government resigned on July 8 for failing to reach an agreement in negotiations on immigration policies.
