Horrible death: Their vacation turned into a nightmare because of the fish they ate

The tragic end of tourists who went to France on vacation… Among those hospitalized after eating sardines in a restaurant, a 32-year-old woman died and at least eight people were hospitalized due to the rare but potentially deadly disease botulism.

The French health agency linked the outbreak to homemade sardines produced at the Tchin Tchin Wine Bar in Bordeaux. They also confirmed that the customers who fell ill had eaten at the restaurant between September 4 and 10.

NOT CONTAGIOUS BUT DANGEROUS

Botulism is not transmitted from person to person and does not pose any risk to the general population. It is a serious type of food poisoning caused by toxins produced by bacteria if food is not stored properly.

These toxins attack the nervous system and can cause paralysis; Symptoms include drooping eyelids, blurred or double vision, and facial muscle weakness.

THE TREATMENTS CONTINUE

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said it had been notified of a “small number of British citizens” affected.

The Irish Health Service also said it had been notified of a “small number” of Irish citizens affected and receiving treatment in France. It was also claimed that the dead woman was the wife of an Irish national.

It was confirmed that the group included two American tourists named Matt Jackson and Kristy Brenner.

The GoFundMe page set up by family and friends says their “vacation in France went from amazing to a nightmare in a matter of hours.”

It was announced that the couple’s antitoxin treatment, which has already raised more than $48,600, is continuing. Doctors said Kristy was discharged, but Matt’s reaction to the botulism was “extremely” severe and his road to recovery was long.
