Remarkable statement by Putin after the meeting with the North Korean leader
Russian President Vladimir Putin said they are complying with existing restrictions on military and technical cooperation with North Korea, but there are also things they can negotiate and consider.
Putin made a statement to state channel Rossiya-1 about his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Referring to military and technical cooperation between Russia and North Korea, Putin said: “There are some restrictions. Russia complies with all these restrictions. But of course there are things we can talk about, negotiate and think about. “There are perspectives here too,” he said.
Noting that Russia is a self-sufficient country, Putin said: “However, there are opportunities that we pay attention to and negotiate within the framework of current rules.”
Putin called the negotiations with Kim “productive” and said they exchanged views on the situation in the region and bilateral relations. Putin stressed that Russia has a lot to offer in the field of agriculture and stated that they discussed the launch of joint projects, including the “logistics triangle” project, which consists of a highway to China, a railway and a port.
