Young Turk, victim of police violence, was buried in France

The body of 16-year-old Sefa Şahin, who was seriously injured in an incident with a police vehicle in France and died in Turkey, where he was transferred after suffering brain death, was buried in his hometown of Kayseri.

A funeral prayer for Şahin was held at noon at the Dedeoğlu Mosque in Talas District.
Şahin’s family, relatives, friends from France and Talas Mayor Mustafa Yalçın attended the funeral ceremony.
After the prayer, Şahin’s body was buried at Halef Hoca Cemetery.

In the incident with a police vehicle in the town of Elancourt, 40 kilometers from the capital Paris, on the afternoon of September 6, 16-year-old Şahin was seriously injured, 2 police officers were arrested in connection with the incident and 2 separate officers investigations were opened, one of which was based on “a failure to comply with the police stop warning”.

Her family, who received permission for the transfer thanks to initiatives from the Turkish Embassy and Consulate General in Paris, took Sefa Şahin to Atatürk Airport on a private medical jet. 16-year-old Şahin, who was taken by ambulance to a private hospital in Ataşehir and treated, could not be saved despite last night’s intervention.
