Missile attack on a shipyard in Crimea

Following Ukraine’s attack on Russia with 10 missiles and three speedboats, a fire broke out at the Sevastopol shipyard on the Crimean peninsula, and two ships were damaged.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry statement, seven missiles supposedly belonging to Ukraine were shot down by Russian air defense systems, while three speed boats were neutralized by a patrol boat. “Two ships under repair were hit and damaged by enemy cruise missiles,” the statement said.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, the largest city on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014 and a major port on the Black Sea, said in a statement on Telegram that at least 24 people were injured.

“All emergency personnel are working at the scene, there is no danger to civilian areas of the city,” Razvozhayev said.

Ships and submarines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are built and repaired in this strategically important port.
