They ask for the extradition of Momika, who attacked the Holy Quran
The Iraqi Ministry of Justice officially requested Momika’s extradition to the Swedish Ministry of Justice.
Speaking to the official Swedish news agency TT, Momika confirmed the extradition request and said she would give a statement to the police on the matter today.
In April 2021, the Immigration Office granted Momika, who sought asylum in Sweden in 2018, a temporary residence and work permit valid for 3 years.
PROVOCATIONS AGAINST THE QURAN
While attacks on the Holy Quran have recently intensified in Sweden and Denmark, allowing these provocations generates reactions.
Danish far-right politician and leader of the Strict Leadership Party, Rasmus Paludan, continued his provocations of burning the Holy Quran in the Swedish cities of Malmö, Norköpin and Jönköping and in the capital Stockholm during the 2022 Easter holidays.
Paludan burned the Holy Quran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on January 21 and in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen on January 27.
Back in Stockholm, Salwan Momika set fire to the Holy Quran under police protection in front of the Stockholm Mosque on June 28, coinciding with the first day of Eid al-Adha.
Momika trampled on the Koran and the Iraqi flag under police protection in front of the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm on July 20, and in front of the Swedish Parliament on July 31 and 14. Momika burned the Quran again in front of the Stockholm mosque on August 24.
Protests were organized in the city of Malmö on September 3, when Momika burned the Koran under police protection and 15 people who tried to stop her were arrested.
Iranian-born Bahrami Marjan burned the Holy Quran under police protection on Stockholm’s Angbybadet beach on August 3. (AA)
