Accidentally threw away external memory full of Bitcoin: lost 5.3 billion TL in virtual money
James Howells, who lives in Newport, Wales, lost his entire fortune due to a small mistake…
Howells, a cryptocurrency investor and Bitcoin owner, lost all of his wealth when his ex-boyfriend accidentally threw away an external drive containing thousands of Bitcoins in 2013.
Howells said he had to find the external memory to access his Bitcoin account, which is currently worth 5.3 billion TL, and wanted to conduct investigations at the Newport waste center, creating a new crisis. The city administration opposed the unfortunate man’s request to conduct an inspection at the garbage center.
“I WILL INVEST IN MY CITY”
Although the man was not allowed to excavate and examine the waste center where the garbage was stored for safety reasons, the man initiated legal proceedings. While no conclusion could be reached in the 10-year-old legal process, the 38-year-old spoke to local media.
“They have to leave me,” Howells said. I am one of the first to buy Bitcoin. I bought it in 2009 and have been saving since then. I would pay the money from here as an investment in Newport. If I can find my external memory, I will invest this money in the city. “I want to make Newport the center of cryptocurrency,” he said.
