Mossad chief David Barnea, in his written statement on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, which took place from October 6 to 25, 1973, noted that “Israel needs to make a realistic assessment to deal with the threats it faces” and said: “We must not overdo it in supporting our allies in times of crisis. We must not underestimate the enemy and its capabilities,” he said.

Barnea stated that “they should also fight for normalization and that countries whose desire for peace has diminished are doomed to be dragged into war,” adding that 50 years after the war, the Mossad decided to publish a book containing historical research on the war years for the first time.

YOM KIPPUR WAR

The Yom Kippur War is the largest war in the Middle East, launched by Egypt and Syria against Israel between October 6 and 25, 1973.
