Investment of 4.5 billion dollars from the United Arab Emirates to Africa

In his speech at the African Climate Summit held in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates, Sultan al-Jaber, stated that his country will allocate 4.5 billion dollars to implement clean energy projects in Africa.

Stating that “the assumption that Africa does not invest in renewable energy means a loss,” Cabir noted that they decided to increase investments with the goal of producing 15 gigawatts of clean energy by 2030.

The summit themed “Supporting Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World”, held jointly by the African Union and the Kenyan government, is being held at the Kenyatta International Convention Center in Nairobi. The summit, which began yesterday and will last for 3 days, is considered a pre-negotiation and preliminary preparation before the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) to be held in December. .

The summit is attended by African heads of state, COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber, US Presidential Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry, as well as many international organizations. (AA)
