United States Terrorist Attack Warning: Stay Away From Crowds

The US embassy in Kampala, in a statement, said the threat of terrorist attacks in Uganda continues and asked its citizens to stay away from crowded places.

Ugandan police prevented a bomb attack near a church in the capital Kampala yesterday. The police detained a 28-year-old man who had explosives in his bag as he was about to enter the church.

Police spokesman Patrick Onyango said they had already received intelligence about a bomb attack and that the detainee confessed to his crime.

The security forces increased the security measures in the city to the next level after receiving information about the preparation of attacks on different churches.

In Uganda, which has peacekeepers in Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, different groups have carried out terror attacks in previous years. (AA)
