Migrants surrender to police after fire in Greece

Irregular Syrian migrants crossing into Greece were hiding in the Dadia forest area, but could not find food or drink due to the fire.

A group of 20 irregular migrants, including a pregnant woman and a baby, waited for a while by the roadside for help.

The irregular immigrants were taken to the police station for identification procedures by the police teams that arrived in the region.

Speaking to the AA correspondent, irregular immigrant Abdul said: “The child is sick, my wife is pregnant.” saying.

Abdul claimed that they had been on the mountain for three days and had fled from the war.

21 PEOPLE KILLED IN FIRE

A herdsman and an irregular migrant died in Kavacık (Lefkimi), in the Evros region, on August 21 in Viotia, Greece.

The bodies of 18 people, including 2 children, were found in the Dadia forest area on August 22, presumably belonging to irregular migrants trying to cross the Evros river into Greece.

The death toll in the fires rose to 21 when another body, believed to belong to an irregular migrant, was found on August 25 in the Dadia forest area. (AA)
