African critics of Le Pen to Macron

Tagging Foreign Affairs Minister Catherine Colonna on social media platform X, Le Pen claimed that serious events took place in Gabon after the presidential election.

Le Pen asked Colonna: “Given the ineptitude that has defined your African policy, can you tell us what is the doctrine that France maintains in its relations with this historic friendly country?” he posed the question.

Asking Colonna what measures were taken to protect French citizens in Gabon, Le Pen replied:

“Does France recognize the validity of these elections? Can you confirm that there is no agreement for our country to intervene in support of the Gabonese government? What is the coherence of his African policy when we see the poor results in Chad, Mali, Niger and now in the historically pro-French African country?

Le Pen affirmed that France should follow an African policy that includes a more respectful cooperation with the peoples and sovereignties.

LATEST SITUATION IN GABON

A group of soldiers, who entered the national television building in the central African country of Gabon early in the morning, announced that they had taken over the administration.

The military, calling itself the “Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI)”, announced that the elections held on August 26 were canceled and the country’s borders closed.

The current President Ali Bongo Ondimba won the presidential elections held on August 26 for the third time. Ali Bongo, 64, took over the seat in 2009 from his father, Omar Bongo, who ruled the country for more than 41 years.

A curfew was imposed alleging that “violence” was practiced in the last hours of the electoral process in the country, and the Internet was restricted while the post-election vote counting process continued.

Opponents, on the other hand, reacted to the government’s practices, with opposition leader Ondo Ossa claiming that the elections were rigged. (AA)
