Explosions one after another in Russia… Ukraine attacked with dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles
Ukraine, which has recently increased its drone strikes on Russian soil, caused a major panic in Russia last night with the biggest UAV strike since the start of the war.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that coordinated UAV attacks by Ukraine were prevented, but images shared on social media showed the attacks sparked explosions and fires in some areas.
Russian officials reported that Ukrainian UAVs attacking infrastructure overnight were shot down in the Bryansk, Orel, Kaluga, Ryazan and Moscow regions. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the downed drone near the capital did not cause any damage.
Russia retaliated against the Ukraine attacks, targeting kyiv and some areas with drones.
It was noted that UAVs in Bryansk also targeted the TV tower. In some regions, including Moscow, the airspace was closed as a precaution.
In Pskov, near the Estonian border, where the most intense attacks took place, at least 10 UAVs caused explosions and fires at the airport and 4 transport planes were damaged. Flights in the city have been suspended.
Russia temporarily closed its airspace in some regions due to recent escalating attacks and increased security measures by placing air defense systems in critical hubs.
