UN: Ban nuclear weapons tests

A session was held at the UN General Assembly on the occasion of the “International Day Against Nuclear Tests”.

Speaking here, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: “At a time when there are 13,000 nuclear weapons stockpiled around the world and countries are trying to improve their precision, range and power, insecurity and division is a recipe for destruction.” he made the assessment of it.

The UN High Representative for Disarmament, Izumi Nakamitsu, pointed out that the CTBT has not yet entered into force, but that it is a very important global objective.
