They prevented the entry and exit of more than 6 thousand residents.

According to the national media report, approximately 6,000 people living in the village of Argelia in the Cauca administrative region were stranded in their villages due to the armed threat from FARC opponents.

Community leader Guido Rivera told local media that because the army left the area, armed groups used the villagers as human shields and put pressure on the people. Stating that illegal armed groups cut off the town’s electricity and water from time to time, Rivera called on authorities to restore public order in the region.

On the other hand, in an army communiqué, it was stated that the actions of the armed groups would be condemned and public order would be restored in the region.

Local media reports suggested that the villagers were suffering from food shortages and that if the siege by armed groups continued, serious health problems could arise.

The government, which is conducting ceasefire negotiations with the country’s armed groups as part of its comprehensive peace policy, faces serious problems, especially due to the actions of former FARC members. (AA)
