Arson detected in Greece
In his statement, the Greek Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Kikilias, recalled that there is a total fight against the fires that have been taking place for days in different parts of the country, and drew attention to the fact that some fires they got out of hand. due to strong winds.
Kikilias pointed out that at 08:00 in the morning nine arson attempts were detected in the forest area of Mount Parnita, about 50 kilometers north of the capital Athens, and in the Avlona region, about 60 kilometers north of Athens.
Kikilias claimed that the suspects were detained, saying: “They will not be able to escape. We will find you and you will answer to justice.” he said.
4 PEOPLE ARRESTED
Greek state television ERT reported that 4 people were detained on suspicion of arson.
During the search for one of the detainees, cotton, binoculars and magnesium sticks were found, which campers usually use to make fires in nature.
Two of the suspects were found with a lighter and a bottle containing a flammable substance.
A 45-year-old man was also arrested, who would have caused a fire in a forest area. (AA)
