Wagner alert in the Russian army: they swore revenge
Although news of the death of Wagner leader Yevgeniy Prigojin, who started an uprising in Russia exactly two months ago in defiance of President Vladimir Putin and the military, was met with silence in the Kremlin, it put the Russian military on alert.
Fighters from the Russian Wagner mercenary group, which fought on the front line in the invasion of Ukraine, had begun advancing towards Moscow, capturing some Russian headquarters in June. Although the rebellion, which led the world to turn to Russia, ended in a short time, the fate of Prigojin and Wagner was a matter of debate for a long time.
The crash of the plane carrying the leaders of Prigokhin and Wagner did not come as a surprise to some groups, but it increased tension in Russia.
CALL TO ‘FLOW TO MOSCOW’
Commemorations for the deaths of Wagner’s leaders were held in some parts of Russia.
Wagner’s warriors on Telegram, in their published statements, vowed to avenge Prigojin and other dead leaders. Many Wagner members also urged their supporters to go ahead with Moscow, saying: “Kill the traitors in the Defense Ministry.”
It turned out that the group had previously planned to declare a “full mobilization” in case Prigojin died.
In the city of Rostov-on-Don on the Ukrainian border, where Wagner seized control in the June uprising, the army was reportedly on high alert for the possibility of a new uprising. Russian media reported that security measures have been increased in the Belgorod region as well.
Prigojin appeared in Africa last week after a long hiatus.
Meanwhile, the Russian State Historical Museum, located on Red Square in Moscow, issued a statement on its official Telegram account today: “Dear visitors, attention! Red Square will be closed today. The main building of the museum is entered through entrance number 3, near the monument to Zhukov.
THE CLAIM ‘DO NOT DIE, LIVE’
Some analysts, on the contrary, claim that Prigojin, who allegedly also died in 2019, could actually be alive, although he is on the passenger list of the crashed plane.
Some sources recalled that the news of Prigojin’s death in a plane crash in 2019 emerged 3 days after the news, surprising everyone.
‘His death doesn’t work for Putin’
While the accusations did not subside, Sergey Markov, one of Putin’s former advisers, claimed that Prigojin was killed by Ukraine. Markov, who said that the death of leader Wagner would not benefit Putin and that “the Russian leader is not a stupid teenager,” claimed that Ukrainian intelligence had mastered the terror attacks and “did it as a gift to Zelensky at the time of the independence”. Ukrainian day”.
Markov also said that Putin does not see Prigojin as a threat to his power and that Wagner mainly has a crisis with the Russian army.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said of the accident in which Prigokhin died: “We have absolutely nothing to do with this situation. “Everyone understands who is involved in this,” he said. (AGENCIES)
