A new crisis is looming: Hundreds of ships wait in the Panama Canal

According to news from The Daily Mail newspaper, the authorities limited the number of daily crossings in the Panama Canal to 32 until September 2, due to drought, which caused the density of ship traffic.

$200 MILLION LOST

The stranded ships caused the country to lose an estimated $200 million in revenue.

There are ships waiting for more than 20 days on both sides of the canal, which connects the Atlantic with the Pacific, which was pushed to the crossing limit due to drought.

It has been noted that the canal has experienced its driest period for over a century and is also in need of rainwater.

MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN MERCHANDISE MOVE

Millions of dollars worth of goods are believed to have been transported on the more than 50-mile-long waterway that connects the Atlantic to the Pacific.

It is claimed that some companies are looking for an alternative route due to the delays in the channel.

According to experts, restrictions that increase transport costs for companies may put more pressure on the prices of consumer goods. (AA)
